or:
status of beavers:
currently, beavers are not extinct, and not going to be in a while! their status is S for Stable. according to the Smithsonian National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute, their status of possible extinction is "least concerned". the decline of fur trading stood as an increase in the beaver population.

beaver's habitat:
beavers can live in nearly any body of water- such as rivers, lakes, and streams. you will be able to find these animals nearly anywhere across North America, minus some parts of Utah, Arizona, California, and Nevada. beavers build little house-like things that consist of sticks, reeds, mud, and similar objects.

conditions to survive:
beavers are heterotrophs- meaning they get their energy from other organisms. to survive, they eat things such as leaves, aqautic plants, and select wood. beavers are warm-blooded animals, with thick fur that helps them survive the freezing winter days. a beaver's den is normally close to 32 degrees farenheit on a winter day. they use each other's body heat to stay warm, and are able to withstand the cold.

beaver's competition:
beavers don't have much competition. however, in the past, beaver pelts were a very popular thing to use in clothes, leaving the beaver population to decline immensely until it was out of style.

animals that prey on beavers:
animals that prey on beavers include wolves, bears, wolverines, foxes and lynxes.

beaver's symbiotic relationships:
beavers have several symbiotic relationships! for example, they have one with a willow tree. the beavers eat the willow tree branches to power themselves and give the energy they need to life, and this allows the trees to grow new branches that are healthier and stronger.
